Why Is A Soft-Porn Model In a BDSM Outfit A Role Model For Young Girls?

with 7 comments

No disrespect to the victims and survivors of the diabolical Manchester attack.  Neither do I wish to undermine the courage and generosity of Ariana Grande returning so soon to Manchester for a benefit concert.  But what are the parents of her teenage and pre-pubescent fans up to?    How has this phenomena happened in a world that is one minute sex-obsessed and the next overly-protective of children?

I’m not too old (yet) for my immediate reaction to images of Ms Grande to be “…phwooar!” but then I check myself because she’s hardly past childhood herself.  What is going on?  On the one hand we have the handwringing and pious condemnation of our highly sexualised society, on the other we have kids wearing ‘Porn Star’ t-shirts, thigh-high boots and all sorts of PVC, leather and even ‘chained’ fashion accessories.  We have the righteous prosecution of more and more sex offenders but also the terrible persecution of a small number of innocent men who are pursued by both media and prosecutors with a mixture of prurience and blind, injudicious revenge.

I don’t even know whether Ms Grande can sing but she certainly can dance and flaunt herself in very sexy, provocative fashion.  Surely more suitable for a night out in Amsterdam or Berlin rather than a children’s pop concert?

  1. Do you remember “dirty!” Christina Aguilera s song, that was fifteen years ago! Maybe we are old!

  2. I totally agree with you.

I am a mother of 4 girls, now 19, 25 and 27, all grounded, intelligent beings with 3 in ‘professional’ jobs and the youngest still working through Uni. All will respond to me, if I mention about clothing in the same way you have, that I am totally wrong. It is not the clothing or the actions that is the problem, it is the mentality of the ‘male’ watching and the actions he decides to take.

Although I have to agree that in an ideal world their understanding should be correct. We cannot control what we find attractive or a ‘turn on’ but the best of us can and should control our actions.

Sadly though, I think they are missing the point somewhat. If they don’t wan’t to be sexualised why flaunt it in that way and tease. There is always someone who is weak through alcohol or just plain ignorant of what is right and acceptable behaviour.

Mind you, only a few days back, one of them said why is it not acceptable for women to walk around in their bras in the hottest of weather, like men walk around without tops. She has a point. Bikini tops are acceptable in certain places but not others.

And the men, walking around without their tops… I must say if they are ‘fit’ it’s nice to look and makes you smile. (YES, women DO look as well). It doesn’t however make me consider dragging him down a side alley, nor would it if he was walking in just his pants.

So, it must be just down to the mindset of the person looking? The difference between ‘looks good’ and ‘I want that’?

If you don’t want your dog to eat the cake, don’t let him see it! Now that makes sense!

The old ‘which comes first, chicken or egg’?

    • Spoken like a typical dumb feminist. Women can never be held accountable like spoilt little children, they think they can do anything they please without consequence.. Some hard lessons coming for the western woman soon enough.

      • What a disturbing comment from Brian: quite threatening and aggressive – to women in general, not just to Theresa. And, further, it doesn’t even seem to be based on what she said…quite clearly, the “dumb feminist”, as she is insultingly, and ludicrously inaccurately described, said that if women don’t want to be sexualised, then why do they flaunt themselves and tease…how on earth is that “feminism” (dumb or otherwise) – or advocating in any way that women should never be held accountable?

    • Your 100% correct they are missing the point, if females don’t want people to treat them as a sex object they should not dress in an overtly sexualised manner and flaunt themselves, it is not acceptable behaviour.
The chicken and egg question was answered a long time ago.
The chicken came first, simply because the chicken is alive and could evolve.
An egg is inert and cannot evolve.

  3. Ok so I sell sex for a living basically (well nearly) But because of that I see it so much more than I used it. But I do agree I’d never let my kids watch her. It’s overtly sexual…to much for young girls.

Responsible adults are supposed to protect their innocence and allow them to enjoy their childhood and grow and learn at their own pace and become well rounded individuals.
