Barack Does It For Me
Yes, the expectation is ridiculous but Barack Obama continues to fulfil his promise at every stage.
His “First 100 days” is the point at which everyone will seek to pass judgment but I acknowledge him now. This man remains a beacon of hope. His personality and integrity shines through everything. His direct, considered and incisive answers to questions reveal a leader who is exactly what the world needs. I believe we deserve

him too. Other current political issues show the seedy, self-serving, mediocre individuals we have had to put up with for far too long.
I was immensely impressed with his announcement on plans for the US car industry which was an object lesson in how to deliver bad news, how to tell all parties involved that it is time to get real.
He arrives in London and with supreme capability immediately addresses the world economic crisis and arms reduction, apparently making more progress on both in hours than other politicians have made in years.
Hail to the Chief!

Genocide In Gaza
I have no problem with dropping smart bombs on the heads of Hamas leaders. I, along with most reasonable people, would even put up with a little collateral damage and come civilian casualties but what the Israelis are doing in Gaza is nothing short of genocide. Israel’s leaders should be indicted on war crimes charges.
Hamas is undoutedly an evil organisation and the firing of rockets into Israel is unacceptable and must be stopped, if necessary, by force. It is as nothing though compared to the brutality of Israel. Remember that Hamas’ rockets are a reaction to the Israeli blockade of Gaza and are a proportionate response to Israel’s bullying. Gaza is exactly the same as the Warsaw Ghetto and the Israeli state is doing a fine job of playing the Nazi role.
Bush is dead and gone and so he should be with the ludicrous comments he came out with yesterday. I cannot believe that Barack Obama will allow Israel to continue as it is. Indeed that is probably the very reason it is doing what it is in advance of his inauguration.
Meanwhile our lily livered “leaders” sit on their fat, post-Christmas arses and do nothing. They walk past on the other side while the women and children of Gaza burn

A Billion Words For Barack
I have found it a little depressing to see the acres of newsprint and gigabytes of cyberspace dedicated to anticipating and welcoming the new President-Elect. As a writer it makes me feel I have to shout very, very loud to be heard at all. I am delighted to join in the party though because as many have said before me, whatever his specific policies I do believe he represents a sea change in politics. When will we have the first black British Prime Minister I wonder? His is an inspiring story and a beacon for the spirit of man. I hope that everything looks and feels just as positive in a year’s time.
