SYNOPSIS
Journalist Nicky Taylor travels to Amsterdam to investigate the growing debate about the legal classification of cannabis. While there she helps out in a coffee shop that sells the drug, and discovers first hand what the effects of cannabis are on everyday life. Back in the UK Nicky finds out about the genetically modified cannabis skunk, cheap and increasingly sold on the streets. The programme asks whether the drug can make you mad, if it is worse than alcohol and if it is stronger than it used to be. Nicky takes part in a month-long medical trial to find out.”

how does cmoking cannabis in amsterdamm help with her original aim of seeing what type of cannabis her children would come into contact with in secondary school?

This thing contained some serious bullshit in it. I seem to remember her smashing back a whole joint when she was specifically advised to take a couple puffs and wait a bit.
Of course this kind of sound advice can never be given under harm maximizing prohibition.

That one about Skunk being “Genetically Modified” again. What tosh. The strains around today are hybrids and not genetically modified,IF and I repeat IF G.M. techniques were applied to the Cannabis plant the first most attractive modification would be to make a cannabis plant that does not look like cannabis, that would then be suitable for garden growing without raising suspicion. Then there would be the strawberries, carrots, plums, you name it with cannabinoid genes grafted on. The fact that we have seen neither of these developments just goes to prove that no G.M. techniques have been applied to cannabis, and I for one am extremely thankful for this.

I also did not like that “driving test”. Under the influence of cannabis she drove “too slowly” and pulled up well short of the babies. This apparently is “highly dangerous”!!!!!! Whereas under the influence of alcohol she killed one of the babies. Need I say any more?

I thought this was quite a good programme in fact. The extreme reactions from intravenous cannabinoids didn’t surprise me. It’s got nothing to do with the way most people consume cannabis though.
Nicky is a bit ditsy and she certainly proved that in the way she behaved but I thought any reasonable person watching it would have got a pretty accurate picture of something that has a lot to offer as long as it isn’t abused.
