“Cheques Are Being Written Out As I Speak”
A magnificent, politically astute and very clever move by David Cameron to seize the initiative from every other party leader. See here. Nobody’s perfect but this is the sort of man we want running the country. Someone who’s smart, understands the public and isn’t frightened of taking action – everything that Gordon Brown isn’t.
David Cameron has been decisive and his actions certainly leave the Labour party in its shadow. However, this is tokenism; many of the massive gains that MP’s have received have been in relation to the practice of “flipping”. I would like to see these issues addressed, together with a guarantee from the party leaders that they will ‘invite’ the HMRC to review MP’s actions to determine whether or not any tax is due either as a ‘benefit in kind’ or capital gains. Public anger cannot be bought of with a small number of cheques for a few hundred pounds!

You missed it – banning “flipping” was a central part of his edict but I agree with your sentiments entirely
