BBC. The Truth About Healthy Eating.
For all you food fad fashionistas, vegans and vegetablists, with your gluten-free, organic, quinoa, tofu, dairy-free and right-on, overpriced naaaturaaal, whole and holy foods, this is the day you got found out!
Only the BBC could do a great programme like this which exposes, gently but unmercifully, the giant confidence trick that is the health food, supplement and superfood business.
It’s all a load of codswallop. You’re being cheated into spending tens of pounds on rip-off products when you can eat healthily for pennies.
Watch it and weep for those have been taken in by the goji berries and coconut oil scam. A pack of butter and an apple is a far better buy.
Royal Mail In EU Referendum Postal Votes Shocker! #VoteLeave
So I posted my EU referendum ballot paper this afternoon. Then I popped into the Post Office to send a ‘signed for’ letter and buy some beer.
On the way out there was our trusted postman emptying the box. “Be careful with that”, I called. “My vote leave papers are in there. Make sure they get where they’re going safely!”
“Oooh aarh”, he said in his deep Dorset accent. “We’re sorting all the leave votes out, confiscating them. Every postie gets a quid for each vote out that he intercepts.”
I’m sure he was joking. But I’m not at all sure that if EU commissioners, the bankers and Cameron thought they could get away with it, they wouldn’t do exactly that.
If we vote to leave I’m not convinced that, as in Ireland and Greece, they won’t just force another referendum until they get the result they want.
This is the best reason of all to vote leave. They are all corrupt, self-serving and anti-democratic.
Do your duty and vote LEAVE for your children’s future.
Why I Am Resigning From the Liberal Democrats.
I am a liberal and a democrat. That makes it absolutely impossible for me to vote to remain part of the illiberal and undemocratic EU.
I think it is an abomination that my party has betrayed all its principles and sold out for the illusory belief that any reform will take place within the EU. On the contrary, as clearly set out by the EU’s founding father Jean Monnet, it will inevitably move towards more and more integration until our nation is subsumed into a Greater Franco-German Empire.
To my fellow members – you’ve been conned, cheated and mugged. This suits the party leadership because like most UK politicians they are entirely self-serving. The EU guarantees them jobs for life, endless taxpayer-funded junkets and expenses. When like Neil Kinnock or Peter Mandelson, they lose the support of voters they will go to the EU as commissioners with a fabulous lifestyle of excess and extravagance at our expense.
The EU is corrupt from beginning to end. Frankly, even if we vote to leave on 23rd June there will be another referendum, just like in Ireland, until the oligarchy gets the result it wants.
Get ready to pay homage to your new masters. This photograph will shortly be replacing HM The Queen in all UK government offices.
Cameron And Osborne: A Pair Of Liars Using Our Money To Promote Their Propaganda.
These two lowlife posh boys have now gone right over the edge into bare faced deceit and lies.
As if all their taxpayer-funded scaremongering wasn’t enough, they are now blatantly misusing our money to further their personal political interests. They have ordered the Governor of the Bank of England and senior NHS executives to support their ‘Remain’ campaign. They have used the civil service to prepare inaccurate and misleading information intended only to support their arguments and further their political careers.
Perhaps this should come as no surprise in view of the putative criminal charges concerning the Conservatives election expenses in the 2015 general election. It is clear that Cameron and Osborne believe they are above the law.
Just as Blair must be brought before the courts for the lies he told over the war on Iraq, so this pair of confidence tricksters must face justice. Whatever the result of the referendum there is no doubt that the leadership of the Conservative Party is corrupt.
Vote For Independence On 23rd June. Vote For The Broad, Sunlit Uplands.
The stitch-up between big business, politicians, civil servants and bankers should be crystal clear to anyone with eyes and ears. It is vital to the future of our children and grandchildren that we vote to leave the EU in a month’s time. The alternative is that we subsume ourselves forever under the yoke of transnational business, self-serving, corrupt governments intent on widening the divide between ‘us’ and ‘them’.
Intelligent people, including, to my amazement, fellow members of the Liberal Democrats, are intent on relinquishing all principles of liberalism and democracy – and for what?
All the Project Fear scaremongering, the ganging-up of the CBI, the Bank of England and all the rest of the establishment flunkies, reveals exactly what is going on. Just as we were lied to and deceived over the need for war in Iraq, we are being led by deception and falsehood into an ever-closer union that will fill the pockets and enhance the power of corporate political interests.
This referendum is not about the economy. It is about much bigger and more important principles of self-determination, democracy and freedom. I believe that such principles will also, in the end, bring us more prosperity.
Leaving the EU is most important for our children. Young people themselves must vote for opportunity. Be for Europe but not the EU. Be for co-operation but without a straightjacket. Be ourselves
The political elite wants it. The parasite outsourcing companies that suck up billions in taxpayers’ money want it. The civil servants in 28 countries want it. When you see David Cameron, Harriet Harman, Gordon Brown, Tony Blair, George Osborne, Michael Heseltine all want it, ask yourself why?
It’s a stitch-up! You’re being lied to, intimidated and deceived. Independence Day is 23rd June. Make sure you make the right choice.
It’s Masterchef Finals Night.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, again and again, Masterchef is my favourite TV entertainment programme. Every year it just seems to get better. The producers do an excellent job of adding little twists and new ideas to the format and it never fails to keep me entranced. For the contestants, getting to the final is an almost guaranteed pass into a shot at a restaurant business. That’s how influential it’s become.
I like it in all its varieties: the celebrity show, the professional show but the original, where amateur cooks elevate themselves to a professional standard, remains the best and the most inspiring.
I just love the music, often highlighted with the sound of chopping onions or a blast on a food processor. It’s somewhere between house and trance and I often find myself doing a clumsy boogie around the lounge as I’m watching.
This year has been poignant for me because my mother shared my love of the show and we would watch it together or chat about each episode on the phone. I found myself talking to her about it last night as I watched the penultimate episode and there she was sitting with me on the sofa once again.
My tip for this year’s champion? It’ll be Jack, a very talented young man.
Whining And Bleating About Imaginary ‘Anti-Semitism’ While The IDF Is Murdering Children.
Remember the apologist for mass civilian murder in Gaza two years ago? Mark Regev is now Israeli ambassador to the UK and he was whining on TV this morning that Israel is being demonised and villified and denied the right to exist.
Get this straight Regev, Israel DESERVES to be demonised and villified. That does not mean it has no right to exist but the greatest danger to its continued existence is itself and its war crimes
Nothing is more guaranteed to whip up anti-semitism than the ridiculous conduct of those who defend the indefensible. Israel is a war criminal state, fundamentally responsible for much of the conflict in the Middle East.
Whenever it suits them they conflate Israel with Judaism. It is convenient to mix race and religion when they turn it to their own advantage. Being a Jew is a choice, irrespective of the family you are born into. People who choose to be Jewish are entitled to that freedom as anyone else who chooses any other religion.
Israel has sown the seeds of its own destruction because of its own behaviour. Now it risks promoting anti-semitism through its own ridiculous defence of justified criticism of its policies.
Bullying Oaf, John Mann MP, A Perfect Representative Of Netanyahu’s Israel.
The disgraceful, thuggish behaviour of John Mann in his assault of Ken Livingstone happens every day in Palestine. There, it may be heavily armed IDF soldiers dealing with Palestinian children. Or an Israeli demolition team throwing elderly grandparents out on the street before sending in the bulldozers to destroy their home. It’s often far worse: a young Palestinian man taken out of sight and summarily executed simply because the IDF know they can get away with it.
John Mann’s conduct is right in line with the aggressive, brutal arrogance that characterises the state of Israel. The pathetic response of the Labor Party, so many spineless, politically-correct MPs ganging up against Livingstone, alleging that his reference to Hitler’s 1933 Haavara Agreement with Zionist German Jews is somehow ‘anti-semitic’. The readiness of these cowards to jump on this bandwagon is contemptible, as are the underhand attempts to smear Jeremy Corbyn with the same charge.
The Tory Party is already well under the Israeli cosh and subservient to its two-phase strategy, donate and bully, donate and insist on a blind eye to Israeli war crimes. Now Labour, in utter shambles between the Blairites and the hard left, are vulnerable to the most crafty, insidious political gameplayers of all. Israel is a nation intent on subversion of western democracies at every level while imposing its brutal, racist, apartheid policies at home.
All honourable Israelis; Jew, Christian, Muslim and those of no faith, must rise up against this monstrous regime that is largely responsible for the Middle East conflict and now threatens the cohesion and stability of western nations. The corrupt influence of the pro-Israel lobby must be rooted out from our political parties and all parts of our society.
Even The Guardian Is Now On The ‘Skunk Scaremongering’ Bandwagon.
Read The Guardian’s Editorial Here
In the last couple of years, even the Daily Mail has shifted its stance on cannabis as it sees opportunities to sensationalise ‘miracle cures’ from medicinal use – the epileptic child now smiling, the cancer patient whose tumour has disappeared. Truth and balance are irrelevant when a dramatic headline is all you’re after.
The Daily Telegraph has become the new home of ‘reefer madness’ with bad science, nasty prejudice and booze-fuelled fear of a safer recreational drug threatening the massive profits of the alcohol industry.
Now, even the Guardian jumps on the ‘skunk scaremongering’ bandwagon with the exaggerated claim that “the risks of heavy teenage cannabis consumption should frighten all of us”. In a backhanded editorial it suggests legalisation because cannabis is dangerous. It claims the consequences of cannabis “abuse are devastating. Psychotic breakdowns smash up lives and can lead to full-blown schizophrenia.” There is little evidence to support such hysteria. In reality, such effects are so rare as to be virtually unheard of and it’s impossible to prove they are caused by cannabis.
Of course we must protect young people, particularly from the high-THC/low-CBD ‘moonshine’ varieties that are a direct result of government policy. However, we cannot compromise facts and evidence for the illusory belief that buying into scare stories will somehow reduce harm. The only way to protect children is by legal regulation with mandatory age limits.
The Guardian makes much of Public Health England’s (PHE) figure that “there are more than 13,000 under-18s in treatment for the consequences of heavy cannabis use in England”. It neglects to mention that PHE also publishes more than 69% are referred by the criminal justice, education and social care systems while only 17% are referred from healthcare and just 11% by themselves or their family. Thus, more than two-thirds are receiving coercive treatment and only 11% actually consider they have a problem.
It is government propaganda that thousands of young people are suffering from mental health problems due to cannabis. Why is The Guardian promoting this myth? Last year, in answer to a Parliamentary question, Jane Ellison MP, minister of state at the Department of Health, revealed there have been average of just over 28 ‘finished admission episodes’ (FAE) for ‘cannabis-induced psychosis’ in young people for each of the past five years.
Of course, each of these 28 cases is a tragedy for the people involved and nothing must distract from that but it clearly shows that in public health terms, ‘cannabis psychosis’ is of negligible significance. To put it into perspective, there are an estimated 3,000 FAEs for peanut allergy each year but we don’t waste £500 million pa on futile law enforcement efforts to ban peanuts!
For 50 years, the Home Office has systematically misled and misinformed the British people about cannabis. Successive generations of young people know they have been lied to. Such dishonest health information is counterproductive. As a result, many children may think that heroin or crack are not as harmful as they have been told.
Cannabis is not harmless but neither is it ‘dangerous’. If you apply that description to it you also have to apply it to energy drinks, over-the-counter painkillers and hay fever remedies. Similarly, whatever scaremongering there is about ‘addiction’, the scientific evidence is that dependency amongst regular cannabis users is slightly less than caffeine dependency amongst regular coffee drinkers – and withdrawal symptoms are similar in nature and intensity.
What we need is evidence-based policy. Government needs to take responsibility for the £6 billion pa cannabis market instead of abandoning our young people and communities to street dealers and criminal gangs. The benefits to be gained from cannabis law reform are reduced health and social harms, massive public expenditure savings, increased tax revenue and proper protection for the vulnerable, including children.
