Dermot’s X Factor Interviews

with one comment

He's Got It!

Dermot O’Leary’s interviews with David Cameron and Nick Clegg, tonight on BBC3, were incisive and inspiring in a way that none of the other debates or interviews have been.

Perhaps precisely because they were aimed at a 16-24 year old audience, these were forward looking, exciting programmes.  Look to your laurels, Paxman, Dimbleby, et al.

I think Dermot will tear Gordon Brown to pieces next week.

There Are Lies, Damned Lies And Then There’s Gordon Brown

with one comment

How he has the bare faced cheek to claim that he’s been saying “for months” that the banks should have been more tightly regulated!!  The man has been incredible for some time but even for him this latest, astonishing volte face is truly astounding.

The Big Fibber

Our Prime Minister is nothing short of a liar.  When he appears tonight on the first ever great TV debate let us hope that his true colours are revealed.  Messrs Cameron and Clegg have the opportunity to drive home the coffin nails into Gordon Brown’s premiership.  Let them strike hard and true.  The country needs relief from this shabby little man, his putrid ideas and his shameful politics.

Vince Cable For Tory Chancellor

Mr Common Sense

What wonderful common sense and wisdom was heard from Vince Cable at the Lib Dem’s conference today.  Here is the only man justified in saying “I told you so” about the financial crisis and the only man who seems to offer a plan for the future that makes sense and has integrity.

The Lib Dems will not form the next government.  Neither will Labour.  Whatever wobbles and uncertainties there are in the next couple of months I have no doubt that David Cameron will be our next prime minister.  He would do well, if necessary, to get down on his knees and beg Vince Cable to join his cabinet.  Not only would that be great news for the country but, I believe, it would be great news for the Tories.  If David can’t see that then I suspect his wife probably can.  I am certain that Samantha will be a great asset in the election campaign.  She could start by inviting Mr & Mrs Cable to dinner.

An Email To My Local Tory Candidate

I Shall Vote UKIP On June 4th

leave a comment »

For two reasons:

1. Because I agree completely that we should withdraw from membership of the EU and establish trading agreements as an independent nation.

2. Because I want to send a message to the main parties showing my disgust for the venal and corrupt behaviour of so many MPs.

I shall vote Tory in the next general election because David Cameron is the only credible candidate for PM.

David Cameron

David Cameron

A magnificent, politically astute and very clever move by David Cameron to seize the initiative from every other party leader.  See here.  Nobody’s perfect but this is the sort of man we want running the country.  Someone who’s smart, understands the public and isn’t frightened of taking action – everything that Gordon Brown isn’t.

No More Excuses In Haringey Or Downing Street

The story of Baby P is a national scandal of monstrous proportions.  Appallingly handled by Gordon Brown in the House yesterday, even the silky, smooth Ed Balls cannot cover up the Prime Minister’s inability to deal with David Cameron’s questions.  Closer though to the shameful failures that allowed this child to be tortured to death is Sharon Shoesmith, the Director of Children’s Services at Haringey.  Putting aside for a couple of sentences the question of her culpability in Baby P’s death, we simply have no room for anyone who  demonstrates such utter incompetence in communications.  She must be dismissed immediately.  No question of being allowed to resign.  She must be sacked.
