The Silence Of UK MPs On Gaza Is Shameful.
Where are they?
I see a few have signed petitions or letters or statements. Two ‘leading Tory MPs’ (is this what we call leadership?) have written to David Cameron.
That the right of self-defence is with Palestine and its elected leadership is self-evident.
It’s sickening. My MP, Richard Drax, Lord of South Dorset, has simply ignored my last two emails about Israel’s war crimes. Cameron is cowering in his bunker. Clegg is redeeming all the accusations of cowardice. Miliband is no more irrelevant than usual.
There is a ringing, hollow, horrifying, echoing, cacophony of silence from these small, small people.
They have no right to call themselves our leaders. They are disgraced by their inaction, by their cowardice. They are useless.
This is the Auschwitz, Belsen and Dachau of our day. Yet Parliament stands idly by. The West fiddles while children burn.

The despicable conduct of the UK government in appeasing and even supporting Israeli war crimes in Gaza is beyond belief.
David Cameron, Philip Hammond and Nadhim Zahawi have disgraced our country by choosing the wrong side and supporting oppression, brutality and child killers.
The violence must stop on both sides but it is the rockets from Gaza that are weapons of self defence against the illegal occupation by the zionist Israeli state.
Israel’s response is illegal and recklessly disproportionate. Everything it does in Palestine is unlawful as determined by its defiance of 64 UN resolutions.
Cameron and his crony government against Palestine are no better than Putin’s thugs against Ukraine. NOT IN MY NAME!

The despicable Israeli regime deserves everything it gets. There is no excuse for its conduct and the shameful appeasement of these tyrants by David Cameron and his stooge Nadhim Zahawi is beneath contempt.

The rockets are fired in self defence against an illegal occupying power. Israel has no excuse. It is the aggressor. If I was in Gaza, like any patriot, I would be seeking out any weapon I could find to launch against the oppressors.
Cameron, Zahawi and their ilk disgust me. These are not British men. They are spineless opportunists and self serving traitors to the honour of Britain.
Israel must be stopped. Anyone who resiles from that is complicit in war crimes. Zahawi is a disgrace to Britain, his party, his race and the whole of humanity, offering support to Cameron’s manouvering and deceit.
Well done David Ward. You are a rare breed amongst MPs, a man of courage and integrity.

If I lived in Gaza under the oppression of the outlaw Israeli state, I would regard it as my moral obligation to fight back against the occupying power with any and all weapons that I could find.
Hamas may be a vile, brutal organisation but it is the product of Israel’s own conduct. The rockets are fully justified as self defence and Israel has only itself to blame.

The IDF is now a legitimate target. Every Israeli soldier must be targeted in defence of Palestine. Israeli air force bases should be destroyed. Let’s get a Type 45 destroyer off the coast of Gaza and provide a guided missile umbrella defence. We have submarines in the Mediterranean and they should be sinking all Israeli warships in the region.
Israel is a pariah state. That is a fact, irrespective of all the slimy, corrupt, Israel supporters in Washington and Parliament. It is in breach of more than 60 UN resolutions. Its conduct in Gaza is illegal. Its leaders and members of its armed forces are war criminals and must be arrested on sight anywhere in the world. Apologists for this outlaw regime, particularly if they sit in Parliament, Congress or the Senate should understand that they are complicit in war crimes if they seek to assist Israel. They too should be subject to arrest. If Cameron offers any further succour to Israel, he too becomes a legitimate target.
Stop the Nazionist Israeli regime now before one more child is murdered.
It’s Time To Put The Daily Mail Out Of Business.

Freedom of the press is a crucial ingredient of any free society but so is freedom from the press that habitually lies, misleads and distorts. This is the very essence of The Daily Mail. It is the way it does business. It is its editorial policy and its business strategy. If a story can be twisted, evidence misrepresented or opinion disguised as fact then that is the route that The Daily Mail will always choose.
I am no supporter of Red Ed but now I have a reason other than his delusional policies to feel sorry for him. The disgusting and shameful abuse of his father is beneath contempt but it is exactly what one would expect from the most vile and offensive man in the media, Paul ‘The Butcher’ Dacre.
Dacre is the butcher of truth, the master of distortion and the cause of great misery and misinformation throughout Britain. No other individual has been responsible for more ‘inaccurate, misleading and distorted’ reporting. Those are the words at the heart of the Editors’ Code which is supposed to determine the standards by which newspapers operate. The Daily Mail’s editorial is defined by its direct contradiction to the requirements of the code. It is not just in breach of it. It is the antithesis of it.
The tragic irony is that Dacre chairs the Editors’ Code committee. His perverse influence means he rules the Press Complaints Commission with an iron fist and it, despite the good intentions of its staff, is a laughing stock and a rubber stamp for whatever lies monsters like Dacre want to print.
There may be a silver lining in this latest despicable episode. It just might give Cameron the backbone he needs to implement Leveson in full, to kick out the ‘capo di tutti capi’ of the Fleet Street mafia and restore some decency and truth to British journalism.
I Gladly Accept The Title Of Cannabis Zealot
Last August, I complained about the conduct of Yvonne Davies, a Manchester magistrate. This week, remarkably, the regulatory process worked. She was reprimanded and, as a result, chose to resign. This was the correct decision. It is impossible for someone with such an extremist opinion to judge anyone else. She is an anti-cannabis crusader and no magistrate can properly take that position.
The Manchester Evening News led the reporting which was quickly picked up by the Daily Mail and the Daily Telegraph. I telephoned the Manchester newspaper to protest that they had merely used the opportunity to re-publish all Ms Davies’ hysterical scaremongering. I’ll be honest. I was concerned the whole thing was starting to backfire, just giving more publicity to Ms Davies’ false and misleading claims.
Some cocky junior Mancunian journalist sneered so hard down the phone at me that I could feel it. When I explained about the endocannabinoid system and the neuroprotective qualities of cannabis he turned into a particularly ignorant and stroppy Gallagher brother and I realised there was no point. I wrote a letter to the editor for publication instead.
I also wrote a letter for publication to the Daily Telegraph.
Then, Tuesday afternoon, I was enjoying a brief glimpse of sunshine outside my friends pub, The Falcon, in Queen’s Park, west London. My phone rang. It was the Daily Mail and I chatted away with Nazia Parveen, the journalist, for a good fifteen minutes. The result you see below in print and the online version is here.

Trust the Mail to try and twist the story into something it isn’t. I wish I had the power to force a few people to quit. I’d start with Theresa May, move on to Jeremy Browne and rattle through Cameron, Osborne, Paul Dacre, Kathy Gyngell, Melanie Philips and by the time I got to the judiciary there’d be plenty more senior than Ms Davies with much greater reason to go (see here for a few examples).
A ‘cannabis zealot’ I am. Just as the 1st century Jewish sect who fought against the Romans, I will stand every time, in the face of whatever odds, use whatever means, to tell the truth about cannabis. It is an immense gift on our planet in so very many ways – which is exactly why it is demonised, why it is only its harms that are discussed and never its benefits.
Yes. I gladly accept the title. A ‘Cannabis Zealot’ am I.

Legal highs are the product of prohibition. If we made cannabis and MDMA legally available to adults under responsible regulation the market for these new, untested substances would virtually dry up.
We have at least 5,000 years experience with cannabis and for most adults, used in moderation, it is actually beneficial as a supplement to the endocannabinoid system and it helps protect against cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative and auto immune conditions. Each year in Britain we hospitalise three times as many people for peanuts as we do for cannabis and that puts the health risks into proper perspective.
Similarly, MDMA is far less dangerous than aspirin or alcohol and if, as in Holland, we tested and certified the contents of a tablet we would protect people far better than the present inane and self-defeating policy.
The people who are directly to blame for the fact that our children are taking these dangerous, untested new substances are the idiots who run our drugs policy: David Cameron, Theresa May and, shamefully, against his own party’s policy, Jeremy Browne.
These weak, hypocritical, self-serving and cowardly politicians have allowed themselves to be bullied by the alcohol industry and a malevolent, sensation-seeking tabloid press into maintaining a policy that is simply absurd.
This Nasty, Spiteful, Vindictive Harridan Must Go.
The Right Dishonourable Theresa May MP
Home Secretaries come and go. Let’s hope for the sake of everyone in Britain that this one goes soon.
Some are corrupt and idiotic like Alan Johnson. Some are brave and sincere like David Blunkett. Many have “something of the night” about them like Michael Howard.
In my lifetime there has never been one like Theresa May – vicious, malevolent and always ready for cheap, political point-scoring at the expense of the weak and vulnerable. She also demonstrates the most shameful ineptitude and incompetence and she’ll stab anyone in the back to protect her career.
She is authoritarian, anti-libertarian, secretive, oppressive, unjust and represents everything that is bad in politics. She would be far better suited to joining the Assad government in Syria or Netanyahu in Israel. She is the antithesis of democracy, the enemy of freedom. She shames Britain and she has done more damage to the cause of women in politics than anyone. She even makes Harriet Harman look reasonable, personable and relevant.
She is the token woman in the cabinet but she is detached from traditional Tory values as well. One of the few options left to Cameron to regain any credit for himself would be to sack her.
It’s no surprise then that she wants to abandon the European Convention on Human Rights which has its foundations in Britain and in our traditions of liberty and justice. She has no interest in humanity. She does not represent me and she is not fit to represent our great nation.
