If I Was Blair I’d Cancel My Donation

There are plenty of other organisations looking after our heroes and their families who would behave far, far better. Tony Blair should cancel his donation and give it to a different charity.
Chris Simpkins, the Royal British Legion’s director-general is an ungrateful, ill-mannered oaf. All he had to do was keep his mouth shut. He has dishonoured the generous intent behind Blair’s donation and he should be ashamed of himself. The Times also needs to have its motives examined for running this shabby, despicable story.
Our heroes do not give their lives so that fat cat, small-minded, cowardly administrators and journalists can get their names in the papers. Shame on them!
I am no blind supporter of Tony Blair. I said what I thought about the donation just five days ago. I stand by that.
The Poppy Appeal has been my first choice charity throughout my life. This appalling, graceless behaviour will make me re-think where my money will go this year.

Tony Blair’s extraordinary generosity towards the Royal British Legion is wonderful. It should be welcomed without reservation. Those who have described it as “blood money” dishonour the sacrifice and courage of their loved ones.

Diane Abbott. Some Integrity At Last
It’s good to see that the Labour Party has rescued its leadership election from the very brink of irrelevance.
Diane Abbott comes from an authentic tradition of noble Labour politicians: Tony Benn, Michael Foot, Neil Kinnock, Ken Livingstone – these are people of integrity and valour who I mostly disagree with but who I have a deep respect for.
"I'm Oxbridge too don't you know"
If the alternatives are the oily Milliband brothers or the slippery Ed Balls then there should be no contest but I fear she cannot win. She and Michael Portillo on “This Week” are the most balanced sofa in politics – despite ageing clubber Andrew Neil’s best efforts to caricature them.
The Milliband brothers are, of course, from the Tony Blair School Of Politics. It’s also called “marketing”. You don’t actually need to have any principles, you just research what the market wants and then provide it in a nice, shiny package with extra bonus points
I think that Ed Milliband will win because he still has an edge. All the edges on his brother have been polished away. He’s been burnished almost to Tony standards. I could quite like Ed. Maybe he’ll find his own voice if he’s given the chance.
Ed Balls? As a Tory I’d love to see him as Labour leader. It would be both entertaining and advantageous!

Stupid Old Fools
The supreme court had the opportunity in one of its first judgments to set itself on the side of the people and justice. Instead it has shown itself to be on the side of the establishment, the banker robbers and the executive. If only this would herald the arrival of the tumbrils and guillotine into the streets of London. Then the bankers and the judges would understand the meaning of injustice as their headless bodies lie in the street and others twitch and dangle from the gallows.
The OFT has been shown to be as toothless and useless as the Data Protection Act and the Information Commissioner. These institutions are established merely as a sop to public opinion. The establishment, the banker robbers and the executive have no interest in justice for the people, only in lining their own pockets and protecting their own interests. They can lend each other £60 billion or more in secret, deceive the public interest, yet they will not overturn the gross injustice and blatant thievery that are bank charges.
The bankers and the judges molested and buggered each other at Eton and Harrow. They molested and buggered each other at Oxbridge. Now incapable, except for a little self-molestation, they are buggering us. Watch them get away with it as they duck, dive, lie, cheat and bribe their way out of trouble. It may be difficult to prove the brown envelopes changing hands but what is happening in these judges’ offshore accounts? We hold you all in the deepest contempt!
Next will come the supreme court overturning Sir Christopher Kelly’s proposal for the reform of MPs’ expenses. Coming up on the inside is the Iraq Inquiry which will almost certainly see Tony Blair off the hook for lying to Parliament and the people.
It may be difficult to contemplate revolution in the modern age but in 1789 Paris and 1917 Moscow that was their modern age. The establishment needs to understand that its conduct is unacceptable, that with the gift of the internet and communications technology, the people have far more power. You are walking a tightrope towards your own destruction.
