Cannabis Causes Tennis Elbow Which Could Lead To Cancer

with 25 comments

It Was In The Daily Mail. It Must Be True!

After all the brave and courageous work that the Daily Mail has done in demonising drugs, particularly in explaining how very, very dangerous cannabis is, tonight its editors and journalists gathered in an atmosphere of self-righteous gloom and sanctimonious misery.  The BBC has ruined it all.

The headline reads: “BBC Slammed For “How Drugs Work” Show Which Glamorises Illegal Substances”.  (Snappy, eh?) See here for the Mail’s valiant and noble defence against this wicked tide of reason and common sense.

Surely something can be done to shut the BBC up?

Can’t James “Broken Britain” Brokenshire come up with some ministerial order or something to stop them telling the truth?

Let’s get the punters back on the booze. That’s where the tax revenue come from.  More importantly, that’s where so much of ministers’ jollies, perks and, you know, fun and excitement comes from.  I mean there’s Ascot, Glyndebourne, Henley, Twickers, Eton old boys day, Wembley.  I mean, all these events are founded on a good old piss up – and the brown envelopes from the big booze companies, well they do come in very handy you know!

That’s what we want to get the hoi polloi back to.  That’ll keep em happy and docile. (Don’t tell ’em about Charlie and his snifters.  Let’s keep that between ourselves, eh?)

I know the truth has been allowed to leak out.  More and more are realising how dangerous alcohol is.  You really mustn’t mention it, even alongside heroin and cocaine.  We can’t afford the scientific comparison. It doesn’t support our case.  We must not allow them to realise how bad it is.  All we need to do is come up with some good scare story.  The schizophrenia thing doesn’t seem to have worked.  What about…what about…what about?  Tennis elbow?  Yes, tennis elbow!

What do you think?  You know, all that picking the spliff up, putting it down.  Yes!  That’s it!  Cannabis causes tennis elbow.   Get it out now!

Cannabis causes tennis elbow – which could lead to cancer.  Call the press conference now!

BBC Proselytises For The Pope

with 7 comments

The Pope's Spin Doctor

Yesterday the Pope made a series of disgraceful excuses for paedophile priests.

Today, the BBC announced that it is to broadcast a Christmas message from him for the first time. This after earlier in the year it granted him extravagant and disproportionate coverage of his vist to Britain.

In a statement the Pope said that he wanted to thank the BBC for its coverage of his visit. I bet he does. For a religious cult that has less than a million regular supporters in Britain he was given saturation coverage on all BBC television and radio for four days.

Mark Thompson, director-general of the BBC is, of course, a hard core Catholic. Surely he has gone too far this time?

What should be happening is that BBC journalists should be probing ever deeper into the disgusting cover up of child abuse that the Pope is responsible for. They should also be tearing apart the sordid and corrupt financial affairs of the Vatican.

Mark Thompson has to go.  This is gross misconduct.

Simon Heffer’s Disgusting Prohibitionist Rant

with 28 comments

Fat Cat And His Drug Of Choice

Journalists in the old media and politicans are panicking.  They are trying to crack down hard on us and our rights to opinions and self-expression.  In the age of WikiLeaks and the internet, their self-serving oligarchy is undermined by real freedom.

Cameron’s and Miliband’s arrogant and dismissive rejection of Bob Ainsworth’s proposals for an end to prohibition, shows they have no proper response to his arguments.  Today, another member of the ruling elite penned a truly ignorant and repressive opinion in The Daily Telegraph.  See here for the full article.

As well as trying it on with the discredited idea that cannabis causes psychosis,  Heffer says, with astounding spitefulness and stupidity:

“We have a serious problem with drugs in this country because we do not punish drugs crime severely enough. Legalisation is not the answer, but getting nasty might just be.”

It is an utterly disgraceful article. Heffer should be ashamed of himself for spreading lies and misinformation, I suspect deliberately.

The facts are that the harms caused by prohibition are well documented and proven.

The facts are that the allegation cannabis causes psychosis is just the latest scare story. In the 1930s the prohibitionists used to say that cannabis makes white women promiscuous with black men. This is just the latest smear of equivalent value.

Public opinion is hugely in favour of an end to prohibition. You only have to look at the polls and the huge volume of comment and opinion on the web.

The oligarchy of politicians and the media is on the point of collapse.  Those who value truth and freedom can console themselves that the darkest hour is just before dawn.  Journalists like Heffer and Andrew Marr, for example, are desperate to hang on to their corrupt position where they control the news agenda and contrive media coverage in cahoots with their friends in parliament.

A peaceful revolution is coming where fat cat journalists with no more talent than the lowliest blogger will be turfed out of their comfortable sinecures as the irrelevant dinosaurs that they are.

Heffer and his chums on both sides of the House have had their nasty little stitch-up going on for too long.  Dawn is approaching and his sort has no future

Who Rattled Andrew Marr’s Cage? I Think He’s Worried.

It's Called Competition

Andrew Marr’s rant against bloggers rather surprised me.  His Sunday morning show is a fixture for me.  I think his intemperate and short tempered polemic betrays an old-fashioned journalist’s insecurity and fear of the new media

Someone in his privileged position has only to sneeze and he will be published in front of millions.  I admire his work but there are thousands, equally capable and with equally valid opinions who are now able to express themselves widely on the internet.  The real question is when will the “dead mens shoes”, “who you know not what you know” culture be overturned?   Let’s not be shy here, I know my writing is generally better than most that’s published in the national press, yet I only enjoy that audience occasionally.  Those, like Andrew Marr, who already have their foot in the door, shut it firmly in the face of their challengers and competitiors.  It’s a closed shop, much worse than any trade union restrictive practice.

I do agree with him completely about anonymity. It is a matter of pride to me that, wherever I can, I use my own name when writing, commenting, abusing, complimenting, agreeing or yes, occasionally, even ranting.  I also agree, in this one instance only, with that obnoxious little billionaire, Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, when he said “Having two identities for yourself is an example of a lack of integrity”.  I think he’s absolutely right on this and I hope more people will follow his and my example.

Overall though Mr Marr, I think your rant about bloggers says more about you than anything else – and you’re right to be worried.  I hope you stick around but there’s plenty of dead wood in journalism and broadcasting that needs chopping out.  Editors are the lazy ones, the real culprits.  It’s easy for them just to sign off the same old names time after time.  They have become far too powerful and need taking down a peg or two.  They should be scouting round the blogosphere for new talent instead of sitting on their backsides getting fat and lazy.

If I Was Blair I’d Cancel My Donation

with 31 comments

The Times, 21st August 2010

There are plenty of other organisations looking after our heroes and their families who would behave far, far better.  Tony Blair should cancel his donation and give it to a different charity.

Chris Simpkins, the Royal British Legion’s director-general is an ungrateful, ill-mannered oaf.  All he had to do was keep his mouth shut.  He has dishonoured the generous intent behind Blair’s donation and he should be ashamed of himself.  The Times also needs to have its motives examined for running this shabby, despicable story.

Our heroes do not give their lives so that fat cat, small-minded, cowardly administrators and journalists can get their names in the papers.  Shame on them!

I am no blind supporter of Tony Blair.  I said what I thought about the donation just five days ago.  I stand by that.

The Poppy Appeal has been my first choice charity throughout my life.   This appalling, graceless behaviour will make me re-think where my money will go this year.

Gordon And The Daily Mail Stand No Chance Against Joanna

Our Avenger

The appalling story of the way that this debased, corrupt and immoral government has treated the Gurkhas continues.

Another Snide, Underhand Labour Minister

A press conference was called today to refute the smears and misinformation promoted by the Home Office and the MOD.  With extraordinary timing, just minutes before the conference was due to start, three things happen:

  • Kevan Jones, Defence Minister, issues an apology
  • The Legal Services Commission publishes its report clearing the Gurkhas’ solicitors of misconduct
  • Gordon Brown frantically tries to contact Ms Lumley

Some worthless journalist at The Daily Mail is also responsible for fuelling this slander against the Gurkha heroes and their heroine, Joanna.  Anyone who has ever read any of the lies and and sensationalist nonsense published in this “newspaper” knows just how much credence to give it.

There is no further investigation needed because the stench, the foul odour, the stink coming from these events is all too familiar.  It is Gordon and his cronies at it again with their unmistakeable, unbelievable and despicable perversion of the truth.  Just how low down in the dirt can you get?
