A Real Insight Into The Police

with 2 comments

The conduct of the police has been in the news again this week for all the wrong reasons.  First there was the disgracegful, outrageous and deeply corrupt acquittal of the thug policeman, Sgt Delroy Smellie, who beat up Nicola Fisher at the G20 protest.  See the story here.  There’s also the CPS’ deplorable failure to bring to trial the police officer who was responsible for the death of Ian Tomlinson, also at the G20 protest.  See here.

Evenin' All

In the course of writing about these events and reading other blogs I came across Inspector Gadget. This is a blog by a policeman for policemen (and women).  I’m not quite clear whether the author is a serving police inspector or not.  If he’s still in the job I’m not sure that it’s entirely proper for him to be writing as he is but I’m still considering my verdict on that.

Inspector Gadget does offer an extraordinary insight into the attitudes of serving police officers.  There are hundreds of comments demonstrating intelligence, passion, anger, professionalism and, in a few cases, crass stupidity and irresponsibility.  I’m reassured that there are many police officers who see that the acquittal of Smellie and the delay in prosecuting the murder of Ian Tomlinson causes enormous damage to the police.  I am very deeply disturbed though by the attitudes that far too many of Inspector Gadget’s contributors demonstrate.

Put Up With It. It's Your Job.

It is quite clear that many officers are psychologically unsuited to the job and are not “fit and proper” people to be given the authority and responsibility of a police constable.  Judging by some of the contributors who claim to be trained in “split second decision making” and the control of violent disorder, I’d say that some of them are bordering on psychopathic.  They shouldn’t be allowed on the streets at all, let alone in a police uniform.

I think Inspector Gadget should be much more widely read, certainly within the Home Office and by those (I wish I knew who they are) who have control over the strategic direction of policing and police recruitment.  There are attitudes demonstrated that suggest to me we should be opening a whole new wing at Brixton or, more probably, Broadmoor, for psychopathic, violent ex-police officers.

Obviously this won’t make me popular with some people and, as I don’t hide my identity, maybe I should be expecting a knock on the door in the middle of the night, but I cannot stand by and let attitudes such as these prevail.

You’re not entitled to complain about being shouted at, abused,  sworn at, threatened (within limits) or protestors not obeying your “orders”.  This is all part of the job.

Your standard of behaviour must be far, far higher than the protestors.  If you cannot control your temper, even in the face of extreme provocation, you shouldn’t be in the job.

I am a strong supporter of the police.  The necessary concomitant of that is that any officer who steps out of line or goes over the top must be punished severely, more severely than if they were a member of the general public.

Anyone who cannot see the wrong perpetrated by Smellie against Fisher and by Officer X against Tomlinson is not fit to be a police officer.

Gordon And The Daily Mail Stand No Chance Against Joanna

Our Avenger

The appalling story of the way that this debased, corrupt and immoral government has treated the Gurkhas continues.

Another Snide, Underhand Labour Minister

A press conference was called today to refute the smears and misinformation promoted by the Home Office and the MOD.  With extraordinary timing, just minutes before the conference was due to start, three things happen:

  • Kevan Jones, Defence Minister, issues an apology
  • The Legal Services Commission publishes its report clearing the Gurkhas’ solicitors of misconduct
  • Gordon Brown frantically tries to contact Ms Lumley

Some worthless journalist at The Daily Mail is also responsible for fuelling this slander against the Gurkha heroes and their heroine, Joanna.  Anyone who has ever read any of the lies and and sensationalist nonsense published in this “newspaper” knows just how much credence to give it.

There is no further investigation needed because the stench, the foul odour, the stink coming from these events is all too familiar.  It is Gordon and his cronies at it again with their unmistakeable, unbelievable and despicable perversion of the truth.  Just how low down in the dirt can you get?

UK Ministers Surrender Mckinnon To US Kidnap

It’s said that when Gordon Brown offered Alan Johnson the Home Office he rejected it as a poisoned chalice.  He’s probably right.  It seems to be destroying his reputation just as it has so many others.

Abandoned

Nevertheless, the shameful and deeply treacherous conduct of this disgraced government towards Gary McKinnon cannot be excused.  There is no greater duty on any government than to protect its citizens, particularly those who are vulnerable.  There can be no basis in any system of justice for allowing a foreign power to abduct an accused person away from the scene of their alleged crime.  This is not extradition.  It is illegal rendition, as extraordinary as any.  It is kidnapping.

Alan Johnson, Gordon Brown and the rest are kowtowing to big bully USA.  British justice is in tatters as they offer up another sacrifice to America.  Believe me, they’d do the same to any of us: you, me, your grandmother, your starving babies and our injured soldiers if it suited them.  If they wanted to take Gary Mckinnon to Guantanamo Bay I don’t believe our government would have the courage to stop them.

Spineless Cowards

I call for the entire cabinet to be indicted on charges of dereliction of duty.  Will not even one of these excuses for men or women have the courage and decency to resign over this issue?

These people who call themselves our leaders are a disgrace to each and every one of us.  They are cowardly and spineless charlatans who are dragging our great country through the mire of ignominy and shame.  Gary Mckinnon is a victim of their cowardice.  Nothing can excuse what they have already put him through, let alone what is to come.

Disgraceful Betrayal Of Gurkha Heroes

What shambolic, cowardly, civil servant-jobsworth, treacherous nonsense has come out of the Home Office today?

See here for the full story.gurkha

The disgusting conduct of Jacqui Smith’s department shames Britain and everyone of us who enjoys freedom won at the cost of Gurkha lives.  While she fritters away her expenses and her downtrodden, frustrated husband amuses himself with porn (who can blame him?), these brave, honourable men who have already won their case in the High Court have been knocked back again after months of unnecessary delay.

Not only is the decision itself a disgrace but the way it has been handled is an example of the very worst of Britain.  What are these fools in government up to?  They really have lost touch with the people and with reality.  Gordon’s YouTube cock-up on expenses – can you think of a more stupid idea? A budget based on fantasy, delusion and deceit.  Crass stupidity is too generous a description.  Gordon, Jacqui, Alistair, you are a laughing stock!  You have demonstrated your incompetence and lack of integrity again and again and again.  Please just go!
