Brutal Police Thugs Shame Our Nation

with 56 comments

They beat our children.

They brutalise our youth.

They destroy our civilisation.

They are violent, evil monsters, armed to the teeth, using steel shod horses to terrorise and oppress.

They assault, murder and create mayhem with impunity

They are the enemy.

Proposition 19. Just Say Now!

with 3 comments

It looks as if, on 2nd November 2010, a small but very significant part of the world will at last come to its senses and legalise cannabis.

On that date, California voters look likely to approve Proposition 19 on the state-wide ballot that legalizes various marijuana-related activities, allows local governments to regulate these activities, permits local governments to impose and collect marijuana-related fees and taxes, and authorizes various criminal and civil penalties.  Currently the polls show that about two-thirds of voters are in favour.

Over the age of 21 it will be legal to possess up to an ounce of marijuana and to cultivate an area of up to 25 sq ft on private property.  The state estimates it will collect about £1.4 billion pa in new tax revenue.  save $200 million pa in law enforcement costs and generate an additional $12 – $18 billion pa for California’s economy, with 60,000 to 110,000 new jobs.   As the Americans say, with one of their most unpleasant expressions, “It’s a no brainer”.

In America they finally seem to have got past listening to the stupid scare stories and propaganda about the cannabis plant.  The misinformation has ranged from the idea that marijuana makes white women promiscuous with black men to the suggestion that it causes psychosis in adolescents.  Both of these ideas are as impossible to prove as each other.  America also  recognises the huge medicinal benefits of cannabis with medical marijuana legal in 14 states and planned in 15 more.   As a recreational drug,  cannabis use is almost never associated with the sort of anti-social behaviour that alcohol causes.   It produces an essentially peaceful, happy and soporific effect.

Instead of insulting and ignoring their scientific experts as we do in the UK, Americans are now more interested in the facts and a pragmatic approach to drugs policy.  The “war on drugs” is now universally recognised as having been an abject failure.  We should, of course, have learned from the experience of alcohol prohibition in the early 20th century.  That created the whole idea of gangsters and organised crime.  We managed to repeat the same mistakes all over again with drugs.

In ironic appreciation of Nancy Reagan’s “Just Say Nc” campaign, those in favour of Proposition 19 have adopted the slogan “Just Say Now”.  In addition to the direct financial benefits, the state expects to be able to focus police priorities on violent crime, cut off funding to violent drug cartels and better protect children, road users, workers and patients from illegal, unregulated use.

The UK will eventually follow down this inevitable path.   The only questions are how many lives will we ruin and how much time and money will we waste before we finally get there?

What Happened To The British Police?

with 13 comments

Another disgraceful example of the way the British police are going to the dogs.  So many of them, like these two, seem to be violent psychopaths. As a Welshman this incident makes me particularly ashamed.  Here’s two more coppers that deserve at least five years in jail.

In my local news, the island of Portland has been abandoned by Dorset police.  See here.   They’ve failed to respond to residents’ concerns about anti-social behaviour.  When a public meeting was held the police flatly refused to attend.  Now the residents are talking about setting up their own vigilante groups.  That, of course, will suit the police perfectly. They’ll be able to get their batons out and beat up more innocent citizens, confident that even if they’re caught on camera they’ll get away with it.

When I was driving onto Portland the other day I saw something which just sums up perfectly the state of policing in Britain today.  Four fancy BMW SUVs and a motorbike tearing across Chesil Beach, high drama, high speed, jack-the-lads, all of them.  Guaranteed no reason for it.  Try getting them to come out to a genuine emergency.

Theresa May!  You should be calling in Chief Constable Mick Giannasi of Gwent and Chief Constable Martin Baker of Dorset.  Both have some serious explaining to do.

Good Cop

Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Hyde of Cumbria Police is the sort of man I would want around when the chips are down.  He has done a magnificent job fronting Cumbria Police’s reaction to the Derrick Bird killings.  He’s not only done his employers proud.  He has been a great force for good and of comfort for the people of Cumbria and the nation as a whole.  He has been professional, calm, dignified, accurate, understanding – everything that we could possibly have wanted from him.  He is in the very highest traditions of the British police.

What a stark contrast from the out of control, lying, scheming thugs in the Metropolitan Police TSG, responsible for multiple assaults at the G20 and Gaza protests and the death of Ian Tomlinson.  Only last month, 30 years after the event, they finally admitted responsibility for the death of Blair Peach at the Anti-Nazi league protest in 1979.  How can there be such a contrast in the conduct and behaviour of our police officers?

I am sure that DCC Hyde still manages to fit in well with the canteen culture of the police.  The difference is he is obviously a fundamentally decent man.  He’s not from the sort of neo-Nazi, violent, fascist subset of the police that Sergeant Leroy Smellie and the rest of the TSG belong to.

When I first wrote about Smellie’s acquittal I came across Inspector Gadget, a blog written by a serving police inspector.  The memory of what I read there has stayed with me and it disturbs me greatly.  It offers an insight into the murkier corners of that canteen culture that should be rooted out and destroyed.  Just like the appalling, scandalous predominance of Masonic culture in the police, it astounds me that Inspector Gadget is allowed to continue his rantings and provide a forum for police officers whose attitudes prove they are unfit for the job.  Don’t anybody try to tell me that the true identity of Inspector Gadget can’t be established.  That would just be another police lie.

I cannot let it pass without calling yet again for charges to be brought against the TSG officer who was clearly seen to assualt Ian Tomlinson shortly before his death.

However, I want to end on a positive note and say, once again, how much I admire the conduct and professionalism of Deputy Chief Constable Hyde.

Smellie Not Guilty Verdict Stinks

No!  No!  No!  I do not believe it!  This has to be one of the greatest travesties of justice ever inflicted on the British people.  Sergeant Delroy Smellie who beat Nicola Fisher with the back of his hand and his baton at the G20 protest has been acquitted of assault.  This is an outrage, a bad and sad day for Britain.  The man is a bully, a brute and a liar.  He is a violent criminal who should go to jail for at least two years.

Thug

We all saw it, in full colour on our television screens.  The man is an unmitigated thug.   There can be no doubt in the mind of any reasonable person.  The video evidence is entirely conclusive.  The excuses put forward in his defence are manifest nonsense.  District Judge Daphne Wickham who made this disgraceful decision is either corrupt or dumb.  Her ruling flies in the face of common sense, reason and fairness.  Her comments as detailed here are absurd.  We should not stand for this.  There should be protest on the streets, questions in the House and an immediate appeal against the verdict.

Bad Apple

So, on the same day that guilty verdicts were delivered in the first trial without a jury for 350 years, we see the true colours of our increasingly cowardly and politically controlled judicial system.  British justice is a laughing stock.  It has no value any more, at all.

All the decent and honourable police officers out there must realise that this decision damages them beyond repair.  Who will stand up for justice now?  Who can we trust?

The Plague Is In Both Your Houses

I believe in the media.  I think it’s a power for good.  OK, so The Daily Telegraph has turned into The News Of The World and there is much else that is crass and false and wrong but it is the media that reveals truth and brings about change.

There can be no option now but jail for some MPs, dismissal for some, resignation for many and shame for most.  Those dishonest and corrupt members of the House Of Lords deserve even worse.   I also wrote much the same a few weeks ago about the police after the disgrace of the G20 murder and assaults – and what has happened?  Nothing!  For anyone else charges would already have been brought.  Undoubtedly the violent policemen are free on bail and strings are being pulled to breaking point to keep them free.

Well let them break.  We all saw it with our own eyes as we have seen the crimes of our politicians.  We need no more prevarication.

This is the power of the media and I look forward to the day when we see these politicians, policemen and, yes, the bankers too, chained together as they are led into jail.

Violent Pigs Shame British Police

There have always been bullies and violent individuals in the police.  Much has been done to reduce the problem but at the expense of overburdening all officers with paperwork.  The two brutal thugs who have been caught in the act of murder and assault at the G20 protests must be dealt with as severely as possible.  They are guilty not only of inexcusable violence but of breach of trust which hugely magnifies the seriousness of their crimes.

Yes, the enquiries must be allowed to run their course but no reasonable person can have any doubt that what we have seen on our television screens are crimes, both of which will require long prison sentences where, perhaps, these individuals will get the treatment they really deserve.

One of the most worrying aspects of both these cases is that both officers, against all the rules, appear to have removed their identifying numbers.  This indicates a premeditated intent to behave in a way that they do not want to be held accountable for.

This no time for the sort of weasel words and pathetic excuses which we are already seeing.  This is a case of  “THUG PLOD, STUPID PLOD, DUMB PLOD”.  The Tactical Support Group (TSG)  must be disbanded immediately.  Any unit that can demonstrate such inept, cynical, criminal behaviour must go and now!
